Synopsis
"Tom Bell did something tragic in his youthsomething that destroyed his closest friends lives. And then he went and made a movie about it.
Years later, Tom reluctantly returns to his Long Island hometown, the scene of the tragedy, where he must finally face the people he wronged and a community that still sees him as a pariah. Intercut with sequences from Toms stark black-and-white film, WESTHAMPTON slowly reveals how the true events diverged from the version he once committed to screen.
The story begins with Tom screening his debut feature, a semi-autobiographical film about the car crash that killed his high school girlfriend, Beth. When he learns that his childhood home has been sold, hes forced to go back to clear out his belongings. For the first time since the accident, hes returning to the real Westhampton.
Locked out of the house he once called home, Tom sets off in search of a key. Along the way, he collides with ghosts of his pastBeths older brother Dickie, her younger sister Avery, and others whose lives were fractured by that night. To move forward, Tom must finally reckon with his own baggagebut Westhampton wont let him go easily.
